MRW: “Moment autonomous Redundant Weigh cell” Now with CANopen!

"The MRW is the market leading solution for load limitation of the aerial lifter platforms. The 20,000 units in the field and the positive feedback of our customers highlight the success of this product. The cell is mounted directly between the boom and the platform and is compensating the load moment effect. The cell is free from wear and offers a high accuracy. It is available with two interfaces:

The MRW-Limit is a TÜV approved unit with a safety switch contact and some additional indication contacts. It is storing the cage zero load and the limit value. Those values are stored with an easy handset procedure. Mainly machines without a PLC system use this stand-alone solution.

The MRW 420 is coming with a redundant 4-20mA output signal. Two separate channels generate an independent signal. By using this Cat. 3 version, the manufacturer of the machines can easily achieve the PL_d level. The software of the limit application is done by the manufactures themselves. Transferring the 4-20mA signal into the weight information, one can easily implement additional features like load depending outreach control.

Now, it is time to do the third step and introduce the new MRW with CAN interface to the lifter market. Using the daisy chain principle, the new interface can reduce the wiring of the machine. The CANopen protocol is easy to perform and the application software is much faster to understand. Zero offset (tare) is just a CAN command. Calibration is easy and safe!

For customers who already use the 4-20mA Version of the MRW, the CAN Version should be an easy and valuable change. Those manufactures already have a PLC system at their machines and in many cases the CAN-Bus network is already applied. For them it’s easy to switch to the MRW-CAN, to reduce the wiring effort and to get access to the new features. We are sure that customers will use this new version with growing numbers soon!
