Eco-city: Reconstruction, a Balance with Nature

An "eco-city", "sustainable city", different in name, same in meaning. Encapsulating every environmentally-safe, salvaged, recycled means, well-planned and implemented...Result...a City is Born. But, A city not just born, a well- developed, cultivated and maintained city, filled with people who have made a conscientious decision to live there....a commitment to a lifestyle, definitely a "different" way of living, that comes with this "territory".

Find below, key components to these cities. Keep in mind, not optional, but mandatory. These cities are prestigious in nature, though mostly located in urban areas. Who would think of the words ""prestigious"" and ""urban"", in the same sentence...and sounding good? I like it. Do you? So, here's the way these cities work.

"PRESERVATION". Everything? Always?

Yes. Water and energy efficiency, recycling mandatory, everything recyclable or reusable. The air is clean. Low pollution. Even the businesses work together to maximize energy efficiency.

"HOUSING". Options?

Affordable. All socioeconomic walks of life living together. Creating more job opportunities. The people have to work together.

"TRANSPORTATION". Getting around town?

Walk, cycle, public transportation, and... in that order.

"FOOD". Where does it come from?

An Urban Farm. Urban farming, grow and farm what you need to sustain the community's diet and nutritional needs.

"URBAN", why there?

To aid in the restoration of these areas, in conjunction with humans being social creatures by nature. Urban areas prove to be the best to cultivate socialization among humans.

Who chooses to "RESIDE" in these cities?

A population of people willing to live a simple life, without materialistic wants, only needs.

A simplistic way of life. A commitment to conservation, preservation.

Could you live in a city like this? Would it be something you would be willing to try? Do you know anyone who lives in such a city? Lots of food for thought. Great discussion opportunity. Share your thought.
