The first set of Mini-Operand in field tests

In September 2018 the first set of Mini-Operand is delivered and installed in pilot project Cascais. Now the devices have to prove themselves in a real application.

They are integrated in a bin identification system at four refuse collecting vehicles (RCV). These Mini-Operands are developed within the Waste4Think project. This new device will cover better the customer requests in the container management and job processing in waste industry.

The Mini-Operand is the device in the MOBA-platform which will realize the transfer of our MAWIS-Mobile application from Win compact 7 to Android.

On one hand this device is a tablet solution on other hand it is able to communicate via CAN in the mobile machine network. So it works as a board computer and hand held device in a kind of hybrid solution. The Mini-Operand collects data from CleANopen and J1939 if it is located in the cradle and the truck driver is able to use it for input of customer signature or confirmation of any kind of job outside a RCV.

Of course the device will cover all existing application in bin management. Beside the standard equipment of a tablet it is equipped with RFID reader for LF transponders with HDX and FDX modulation and UHF as well. An industrial  designed bar code reader allows the daily usage in mass production.

The Mini-Operand is the next device in the Moba internet platform (MIP). The MIP is the generic telematic communication platform for mobile devices. Together with MAWIS Mobile and MAWISu2.0 accrues a powerful system for the waste market.
