Design in Road Construction Industry

“The best way to predict the future is to invent it"

How does design in 10 years look like? In our business, we work with highly complex systems that must be easy to operate. Therefore, an engineer is often only focused on the functionality. For sale, the “look and feel” and associated design is equally important. A construction customer wants not only to know that she or he uses modern and newest technology but also wants to see and feel it. Everyone likes the excitement of a new system or product seeing it for the first time. If we think about other designs like TVs, we see that the design is getting more and more flat and lighter.

Design means not only the external profile and color. It also means the way of use in functionally, life cycle and the interaction between the operator and the system.

So, how advanced is the development of design in the construction industry, particularly in heavy machines and equipment?

In contrast to art, the design has to be subordinate to people. Design helps to facilitate the access of users to a technology, saves energy and protects the environment - even with construction machines.

Systems with easy operation and clearly illustrated information with symbol “language”, like the MOBA grade control system, are the devices of the future. Easy access to functions, entering of values and tactile feedback are important criteria for use in professional life with gloves and under all weather conditions.

Products that are easy to repair and with a high level of serviceability help to protect the environment and save money. It is important to keep all systems up to date with the option for updates and upgrades. Modular systems can greatly reduce development time and wide range of replacement parts.
