In the small country Lithuania, the latest and best technology and equipment is used for building or renovating roads. Every time I am in Lithuania, I am surprised about the good quality of their roads and how professionally organized the construction companies are. The reason is that they have a very well organized Road Maintenance Management. The slides below show its structure.

Last time I visited the Lithuanian Road Administration, they told me that they were looking for the latest technology in the market to further increase the quality of the roads. I also visited several construction companies and each of them is doing a good job with operators with a lot of knowledge.

According to Linas Maciulevicius from the company S-Group which is based in Vilnius, the pavers are equipped with the Big Sonic Ski since several years as a standard levelling system and everyone knows and appreciates the advantages of the Big Sonic-Ski. Last year, we also presented and introduced the temperature control system PAVE-IR Scan successfully.

They all recognised the advantages of this system for the paving process and for the road quality. “We transfer all the recorded information from the paver to the Office software MOBA Paveapp and evaluated it. With this data, we were able to improve the paving process significantly”, said Linas Maciulevicius.

Another important topic also in Lithuania is the compaction of the material on the construction site. In some tenders, systems like the MCA-2000 compaction system are already required. The pictures below show the MCA-2000 roller systems that helps the operator making perfect job. The system shows the asphalt temperature and counts the number of the driven passes and compares them with the number of requested passes. After finishing the job you can take the recorded data and can analyse it in the office.
